How to ask help in community forum ?
By antti • Jul 28th, 2007 • Category: UncategorizedSam showed a nice way to ask help in community forum here. Because I need practice to express myself properly in forum, I took Sam´s example in closer view.
1. Try to search solutions with Google or just looking around in community forums. In many cases somebody else have had similar problem before. So googling is a very practical way to get issue solved.
2. If you didn´t get answers, be polite and ask in community forum (remind people that you have done researching). E.g. “I did my best to find a solution but I wasn´t able to find a solutions that matched my skills. My skills are (please list what you can). I´m running this system in here. (It is an important to tell what kind of systems you are using and it´s plus to demonstrate demo site.)
3. After introducing the framework it is time to express your problem (what you have done, and what do you want). E.g. “I tried to create this but now I have problems. (It´s is an useful way to number problems and copy-paste possible error list)
4. Continue to being polite and write your appreciations and gratefulness to members of community forum in the end of your request. Eg. “Grateful for any assistance.
