idea Overview

The Web Communications Theory attempts to answer why Web Services should be more simpler and therefore much purposefully performing and functioning.

As explained before in the presentation chapter, the Web Communications Theory supports the idea of the holistic minimalism.

After experiencing (professionally and privately) the complex nature of hundreds of Web Services  I started thinking the alternative approach that can provide better results.

My investigation led to examine the current, sometime very ridiculous and misleading, practices of Web Communications. The most of Web Services are too difficult to use. In addition, they seem  o suffer from the lack of coordination and therefore they are communicating poorly.

According to my investigations the majority of Web Services have been mainly seen only from the technological and visual perspectives downplaying or forgetting the other important components like Vision and Content.

The ways of seeing Web Services can be changed.

The Web Communications Theory provides philosophical framework in order to construct practical principles that are based on minimalism and broader, the holistic perspectives.

Keeping the focus on Communication

The theory argues that the importance of minimalism and its putting into practice is more effective approach both economically and the satisfactions of users.

In order to create successfully built up Web Services:

  1. Communication (as defined widely) as possible must be the cornerstone of every successful Web Service. By reminding a communicative factor in all elements of Web Services (vision, content, culture, visuality and technology) Web Services can be created as purposeful as possible.
  2. The minimalist approach must be used as a background principles of every action relating to Web Services.

Already several corporations, organizations and individualists have improved their Web Presence and got rid of the complexity. So, it is possible to reduce the level of the ineffectiveness through minimalism.

The Web Communications Theory is a framework, a new way to see

This framework means that it respects and take seriously all the important components of Web Services.

However, as a flexible framework the Web Communications Theory doesn’t offer  detailed instructions. The Web is constantly evolving and re-developing itself.

Instead of proving the latest ideas the Web Communications Theory helps to remind owners & webmasters and Web producers about those components and common practises that exist even the Web technology will change.

Using the Web Communications Theory needs certain skills, experiences and the attitude. These can be learned and studied by gaining knowledge of all those fields and areas.

A Web Communications Specialist is an example of the person, who can keep all components as balanced as possible.

Five components in the Web Communications Theory

There are five components, elements in the Web Communications Theory that are laying the framework for all kind of Web Services.  They have been named as Vision, Content, Culture, Visuality and Technology.

All five components must be equally treated. No area should dominate the others.
