Vision

vision Vision

Vision is the core component and a fundamental element in the Web Communications Theory.

Let’s speculate that Ed is a fictive potato farmer located in somewhere on our planet, perhaps in the USA. He has a huge farm.

Once upon a day he got an idea.

“I’ve been growing a significant number of wonderful potatoes for many years. Why don’t I try to sell more those bio-organically grown potatoes for organic food lovers around the world. I could start with beating Mr. Carl in our village, who is proving just regular ones. Perhaps there is a room for a robust international brand in the future.”, thought Ed.

So, Ed believed in his varieties, a product, and his abilities to deal with this Vision. There is no other word, why his special variety could not break through. Every customer can benefit from healthy and natural products of his beautiful farm.

Ed as a researcher

Ed analyzed how many thousands of kilos of potatoes he could realistically sell by the end of the year and the following years. He had a wonderful product, the customer base and market, equipments, workforce and the most importantly attitude to succeed in.

His goal of conquering the world by step by step was measurable and achievable (realistic). What is more, Ed knew his customers and understood their needs.

What he needed was a long-lasting project that could put together all details and issues in harmonized and balanced package.

In simple terms, Ed had a Vision to move forward.

Vision is the most important element of purposeful Web Service

Unfortunately, many Web Services are having very blurry idea why they has been established and what their the purpose of existence might be. Nobody knows why the Web Service is all about and how it could boost the objectives in the organizations.

It gives a significant competitive advantage if there is a Vision that tells the idea and the purpose of the Web Service. It guides, it tells, it advices to which directions to take.

Everyone can form a Vision – answer the basics

Vision is not so difficult to form. It starts with re-considering the purpose of the product and organization.

“Ask yourself what are you offering. To whom are you are providing your services? How can you clients and customers benefit from it.”

— Keeping the simplicity in mind is a key when composing a robust, minimalist Vision.

Whether you are selling products on the Internet or influencing only people to act, these simple questions remain still the same.

Of course, you can live without Vision. Does this  get you into trouble in the end? Could you answer without Vision which direction are you going?

Researching carefully your background, thinking through the objectives and success criteria and visualizing your users perhaps by using personas can pay off in the end.

Vision establishes an outline of what needed to be done

As we have seen the Web Communications Theory underlines the essential importance of Vision. It guides all steps in order to create soundable and effective Web Services.

Vision gives tangible instructions what kind of material (content), visuality (image), culture (interaction) and technology (delivering methods) are needed.

Vision establishes an outline of what needed to be done.
