A Web Communications Specialist operates at several levels in the field of Online and Offline Communications.
IT & Communications Coordinator
As an IT & Communications Coordinator WCS contributes for example ensuring day-to-day content management, maintenance and producing (newsletters, videos, audio clips etc.).
He also actively implement and integrate online communications channels (e.g. Twitter/Facebook) with open source (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla) platforms.
He provide technical support and helping people to use online solutions.What is more, design and layout brochures and other print communication material (by using Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
Project Manager for production and designing
In this position WCS uses its coordinating and organizing skills, when leading envisioning workshops / meetings with clients. He transforms concepts and visions into work packages.
He can identify, analyze and consult the ways how organization could benefit from online solutions in order to strengthen their Online Presence. As a coordinator he typically supervises and supports the production team and ensures the quality and the satisfaction of clients.
Very often WCS also gives trainings to end-users.
Web Site Manager / Web Communications Officer
On the other hand, if a Web Communication Specialist works as a Web Site Manager, he maintains and develops the organization’s Online Presence and related communication activities (Print Communication).
For example, he can clarify and convey key messages by understanding strategical goals and objective. Knowing pros and cons of different channels, he can collaborate with other stakeholders in order to optimize tools and platforms.
What is more, a WCS can produce effective web-edited content.
